1. Risk and extreme sportsContent:- Definition and perception of risk. Risk in different areas of our lives. Example: behaviours related to extreme sports. Linguistic competencies: Lexical - Specific to the topic. Grammar - Indicative verb tenses and Konjunktiv II in the present and past. Verb phrases and verbs with prepositions, local prepositions and various temporal elements. Strategy - Summarise relevant information from authentic texts, debate strategies: convince, argue, and reach consensus |
2. The importance of soft skills in the global job market and personal livesContent:- Requirements in the global job market. Analysis of different soft skills. SWOT analysis. HR Department meeting (role play). Group project: Betriebsausflug. Linguistic competencies: Lexical - vocabulary related to skills/abilities. Grammar - infinitive and final phrases, reflexive pronouns in the dative and accusative. Strategy - debate strategies, convincing, arguing and reaching consensus; writing emails. |
3. Marketing and advertisingContent:- Marketing in firms, how it works and its function. Different types of marketing. Ad analyses (TV, newspaper, internet, etc.). Group presentation on an ad and analysis. Marketing Department meeting (role-play). Linguistic competencies: Lexical - specific to the world of marketing and advertising. Grammar - passive voice for processes in different tenses, N declination and name declination. Strategy - debate strategies, convincing, arguing and reaching consensus; writing emails. |
4. Non-governmental organisations (NGOs)Content:- Analyse and compare basic income with a micro-credit. Present and analyse the tasks and objectives of NGOs. Group presentation on an NGO. Linguistic competencies: Lexical - basic income, poverty, credits, NGOs. Grammar - verbs determining the date, most common syntactic models in German, two-part connectors. "Brauchen" as a model verb. Strategy - taking notes during presentations and writing reports |
