Prerequisites

Students need to have successfully passed Economics I, II and III.

Previous Knowledge

The key economic analysis models and concepts, both microeconomic and macroeconomic.

Workload distribution

The amount of work required as part of this subject is immense, and each session could be a separate subject in its own right. That notwithstanding, the workload will be distributed equally so that it is completed before, during and after each session. Furthermore, since the subject is based on the ¿flipped classroom¿ methodology and structured debates, responsibility for the learning process is no longer exclusively in faculty members¿ hands; students are now co-responsible for their own learning.
In addition, acquiring knowledge and skills while also having fun (all in equal measure) is guaranteed.

COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM

The Economics from the Grave subject uses the key authors of economic thought throughout history to explore the different theories and concepts all within their historical contexts. At the same time, it allows students to develop the competencies and skills pertinent to this type of class and area of knowledge.

Course Learning Objectives

If you think that Kalecki is a halfback for the Lech Poznan football club or that Sraffa is the director of the La Scala opera house in Milan, the Economics from the Grave subject is perfect for you.
By the end of the course, students will be able to identify the different economic schools of thought and theories and appropriately place them within their historical contexts as well as identify the key arguments underlying today¿s debates.

Assessment criteria

Assessment for this subject comprises an ongoing component. This ongoing assessment includes structured debates and open in-class discussions.

As detailed in the Programme Regulations, attendance is compulsory.
