Prerequisites

Enrollment in the MS in Global Strategic Management/MS in Global Commerce Program.

Previous Knowledge

Undergraduate Degree in Business or Related Discipline.

Workload distribution

The class will meet for 2-hour sessions throughout the term. On occasion, faculty-team consultations may take the place of full class meetings. Thesis teams will be expected to work on projects and presentations outside of class and to submit required assignments. The class will also use and integrate material from other program courses.

COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM

The objective of this course is to develop students' abilities to identify questions of significance to global business, and to structure effective and rigorous approaches to answering such questions. During the semester, teams will work to develop and defend a thesis proposal, which they will then execute and refine while at Lingnan and ESADE. This course will also develop students' abilities to critique research studies and to provide constructive peer feedback in professional settings.

CONTENT

1. Summary:

The course will introduce material related to the academic research process (i.e., identifying a research question, developing a literature review) and research methodologies (both quantitative and qualitative).

Methodology

This class will use interactive lectures, manuscript workshop sessions, guest speakers, and team presentations.

Assessment criteria

Assessment will occur through both individual and team assignments.
