COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM

Big Data & Data Analytics and the Public Sector seem destined to go hand in hand. Where can we find bigger amounts of data and a larger diversity of attributes than in the Public Sector and particularly in the management of cities. The Smart City movement has been one of the most reactive to this new opportunity in what has been called Data Driven Cities. This course will explore the opportunities around the use of Data Science in Public Sector in their different areas.

Course Learning Objectives

After finishing the course students should:

1) Have a vision of the use of Analytics and Big Data in the Public Sector.
2) Be acquainted with the Smart City movement and its relevance.
3) Know some of the most relevant experiences in the sector so far.

Assessment criteria

The format of this course is the one of a seminar, paying consideration to attendance and participation and evaluating a personal or group project around a subject chosen by participants.
