Course Learning Objectives

The learning objectives are related to the following issues that are discussed in class: What is the role of product managers in established companies and start-ups? What are attributes of successful PMs, what do they do and with whom do they work together? What techniques help PMs to better understand customer needs and how can they validate demand for a product? How to combine customer needs and technological solutions in detailed product specifications? Which tools do PMs employ for the development of products (e.g. scrum as an agile development method)? What knowledge, responsibilities and skills do successful PMs require?

Assessment criteria

Individual Assessment: 50%

The individual assessment, which includes class participation and a final individual assignment, will be based on active participation, case reading and discussion as well as on the ability of formulating a solid final reflection that brings together all the learning.

Group Assignments: 50%

A series of group assigments will measure teams' capability of applying the tools and methodology to real-life situations as well as providing an understanding of what the job of Product Manager is.
