Course Learning Objectives
The session focuses in understanding the challenges of leading change in organizations. The main purpose of the session is learning a comprehensive model for managing and leading change situations that help participants execute more effectively strategic decisions in the future.
Participants have to read a case in advance (Global Tech case) that describes a strategic dilemma faced by a global firm in the GPS sector. The course will begin with the case discussion, identifying the challenges ahead and priorities. Then participants are assigned in groups, they have to position themselves in the leadership position for the change process.
In the first stage each group will have to interview different stakeholders and elaborate a road map for pushing change, identifying sources of support and resistance to the change process. Then participants will have to plan the steps and milestones they will follow to implement change. In the last stage they will actually have to implement the decisions and change tactics they chose.
All groups will have the chance to observe the outcomes of their decisions, they will have the chance to see if the firm is able to thrive following their decisions or if the change process fails.
Based on the outcome of the group exercise, all participants will be able to compare the results and tactics of each group and how effective they were. The comparison facilitated by the faculty extracts the main lessons and learning of the exercise, and reinforces the change model that is underlying the course, as a way to make the practice of participants better in future change situations they have to deal with. The exercise intends to improve the execution skills of participants.
The final section may focus its attention in connecting the overall learnings of the program in a structured way. A final wrap-up and integration exercise that deals with all three levels: individual, team and cohort learning.
