Course Learning Objectives
The objective of this course is to teach students the elements of effective and persuasive communication to enable them to achieve concise, effective communication in all modes, especially presentations and public speaking.

Methodology
The methodology is highly interactive, using impromptu exercises, role-plays, video illustrations, recordings on camera and group discussions. Feedback will be given as students participate in class and present in front of their peers.

Assessment criteria
Your final course grade will be based on the assessment of both individual and group contributions. The final evaluation will be determined by two important elements:
1. INDIVIDUAL CLASS PARTICIPATION: 30%
The following guiding principles will be used in evaluating your class participation:
-Depth and Quality of contribution: A high-quality comment reveals depth of insight, use of evidence and consistency of argument. They need to be realistic and actionable.
-Value added feedback: Valuable feedback to your peers demands comments that are concise and clear, and that are conveyed with a spirit of involvement in the discussion at hand.
-Frequency refers to the attainment of a minimum quantity of contributions that is sufficient for the professor to make an assessment of comment quality. Excessive frequency of participation (claiming more than a fair share of "airtime") will decrease the overall evaluation of your class participation
When determining the class participation grade at the end of each class, the following questions will be asked:
-Were the points made relevant to the class discussion?
-Did the comments add to your peers' overall understanding of the situation?
-Did the participant go beyond simple repetition of case facts without analysis and conclusions?
-Were the concepts and arguments presented in a crisp, compelling and logically way ?
-Was the participant able to back up his/her argument(s) with relevant data?
2. GROUP PRESENTATIONS: 70%
Students will be given 2 assigned group presentations.
Detailed information on assignments will be given during the course.
