Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Statistics, Econometrics

The course advances your formal understanding of key macroeconomic questions, such as: Why do some countries enjoy a greater standard of living than others? How does growth in productivity evolve over time? What determines business cycles and what are their consequences? What impact do changes in fiscal or monetary policies have upon consumers and companies?

We will use basic macroeconomic models to analyze the aggregate implications of the decisions made by many consumers and firms, which are related to each other, as well as the impact of macroeconomic policies on these decisions. Theoretical analyses will be complemented by a careful look and macroeconomic data.

By the end of this course,
- find, collect and understand macroeconomic data
- use the appropriate theoretical framework to understand patterns in the data
- assess the merits and limitations of various economic theories
- understand the functioning of the economy and the effects of monetary and fiscal economic policies on the behavior of consumers and companies
