COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM

The ability to tell stories with data is increasingly important in a world in which there are ever-more data and a greater need to make data-based decisions. Effectively visualising data can make the difference between success and failure when presenting the conclusions of a study or company project.

The aim of this subject is to introduce students to today's most widely used data analysis and visualisation applications for the managerial context. The subject is designed for students to learn how to use analytical software to visualise data effectively while also developing their ability to summarise and present results by means of simple and creative solutions.

All this serves to better respond to today's demand for professionals capable of correctly handling and presenting data for decision-making processes.

Course Learning Objectives

Upon successfully completing this subject, students should be able to:
-Visualise data to be able to make decisions
-Comfortably work with different contemporary contexts to be able to visualise and analyse data
-Transmit and present the results obtained in a rigorous, simple and creative way.

Methodology

Class sessions are fundamentally practical in nature. Students will work individually and in groups on the applications and techniques briefly explained by faculty.

In each session, students will work on (deliver) a part of their final projects (learning based on problem-solving). Students also need to work using their own computers, though they will be able to download the necessary software free of charge to be able to carry out the different assignments.

Student assessment will take part during the last class session. Given the importance of actively participating in this subect and its practical focus, students who fail this subject due to not having attended will not be able to sit the exam in July to attempt to pass the subject.
