Apply and extend to an open economy framework the training provided by the previous econ courses, in order to analyze and understand the global economic environment.

1.- Providig students with a tool-kit helpful to understand the economics of countries that operate in a globalized environment, which conditions the decision-making framework of policy makers, managers and citizens.
2.- Using the tool-kit to acquaint students with the main global economy milestones and challenges.

1. Tracking the Economic Performance of Countries Country Headlines Financial Gaps, Credit/Debit, Solvency Quality of Productive Assets Quality of Institutions

2. The World Economy of the Early 21st Century Historical Account and Analysis Legacy of the First Decades

3. Selected Topics & Challenges Ahead This part of the course focuses on a list of selected topics analyzed in the context of the recent global economic evolution. Some of them are textbook classics, like Finance, Exchange Rates, and Trade. Others are 'new comers' that pose century challenges, like the quest for Sustainable Development.

Combination of lecturing and active participation to discuss international economy topics by resorting to analytical frameworks, empirical data, selected academic-policy-press readings, and a variety of online sites.
