Fundamentals of Management, Accounting and Finance are recommended, but not 100% necessary.
COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM
Real Estate contributes to 10% of the GDP in the Spanish Economy. Therefore, most of our students must understand and know the basics of the market to start considering the sector as a potential opportunity to develop a successful career.
This elective course aims to complement all the core courses of the Program and provide the students with a better understanding of the Real Estate world and opportunities (especially in Spain). We will work as well in the soft skills required to increase the probability to get a job in such a demanded professional opportunity.
Course Learning Objectives
This course aims to:
- Provide the student with an overview of the Real Estate sector, working on the glossary, knowing the main players and potential career paths.
- Work on the key skills that a good real estate professional requires.
- Familiarise students with methods and approaches that are used on a daily basis to make investment decisions.
- Present and discuss with students' real-life case studies by the hand of professionals from the sector.
- Improve their skills: critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, discussion and public presentation
Methodology
The format of the course is based on a mix of lectures, exercises and case studies.
Lectures: to present and discuss frameworks and concepts. Guest experts will be invited to present their own experiences on the topics introduced in the lectures.
Exercises: there will be some exercises to be done in class and others to be prepared at home.
Case studies: real-life case studies to apply theory to daily situations
Assessment criteria
30% Class attendance and active individual participation
40% on individual and group exercises
30% final group project
