COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM
The Master of Science in Digital Business will certainly provide the knowledge and the skills, through labs and practical exercises, to acquire the necessary level of competence in the discipline. However, nothing substitutes the richness of the actual practice within companies.
The CAPSTONE Project is a Real-life project aimed at providing experience in the use of the different frameworks, tools and technologies and methodologies seen throughout the Master, within a business perspective and a global comprehension. Therefore, it is an opportunity to test and apply the skills learned by the students during the MScDB and, even more, is offers the opportunity to start building a network that could prove invaluable in the future.
CAPSTONE Projects are designed to be developed in groups, thus helping the students acquire and/or reinforce their team building and team working skills.
Course Learning Objectives
The main learning objectives of the Corporate Digital Business Project are:
1) Live a real company experience.
2) Learn the practicalities of Digital Business and technologies in real environments.
3) Enjoy the opportunity to build a network on the area chosen by the student.
4) Acquire and/or reinforce Team-building and Team-working skills
Methodology
The CAPSTONE project is a group project (or, under special circumstances, an individual work) developed in cooperation with selected Companies, under the guidance of a supervisor from ESADE and, a mentor from each Company.
Each Company has its own Project Management methodology so, in order to make the experience as immersive as possible for the students, the CAPSTONE Project will be conducted according to that methodology; in any case, it is expected that the students hold some meetings with their mentor(s) at the Company on a regular basis (the frequency will be determined by the specific characteristics of each combination of Project and Company)
The Capstone Projects will be proposed by ESADE, leveraging ESADE's connection to a wide variety of Companies and Institutions. However, students can bring their own collaboration proposals, which will have to be accepted by the Program Director of the MSc.
Assessment criteria
Students will submit a Mid-term report and the Final report, describing their work, experience and learnings. Both reports will be presented to the ESADE Faculty and the participating Company through a live presentation.
Together with the reports, the final mark of the CAPSTONE Project will take into account the team members' peer review and the Company assessment, regarding the performance of the team throughout the CAPSTONE Project.
