Workload distribution

All members of the team will present their ?Country Reports: Doing Business In' (?ppt') to the class. All other groups have to bring prior expectations in advance (What do you want to know?). The delivery is very important (structure design, layout, content, terminology, formal and style presentation). The visuals need to be relevant and attractive (pictures, maps, logos, graphs, identity colours, etc.). It will follow an open class discussion, comments interaction, Q & A, feed-back, and wrap up, to get the most out of the course. After the session, every team will send the presentation (?ppt' in ?pdf' format) to the professor (fxavier.mena@esade.edu). The file name must be: ?COUNTRY.pdf'. The professor will post all student presentations in the Moodle.

Along the presentation, the students will fill an ?Exercise', stressing the most relevant items of each ?Country-Report: Doing Business In' presented. The exercise file will be upload to Moodle at the end of every session.
So, class attendance is mandatory.

A Final Quiz (Multiple Choice) (40 questions) will summarize the ?Country Reports: Doing Business In' presented along the course. All presentations will be posted on Moodle after class.

Finally, every student will prepare (?first-mover advantage' basis) another ?Country Report: Doing Business In' (a readable ?word', 10 pages (approx.), individual), and will submit to the ?web' after the end of the lecture period. This document will include relevant pictures, maps, logos, graphs, statistics, etc.

Course Learning Objectives

The goal of the course is to develop a core framework (?roadmap') for the in-depth analysis of a country, stressing the multi-faceted cross-cultural approach. The course aims to deal with and adapt to other cultures and countries, for self-improvement of a successful career (personal, corporate, foreign affairs, international organization).

The students will work in groups, selecting countries of their choice from the teacher's list, and preparing their ?Country Reports: Doing Business In'. The approach to the country analysis will be based on its geography, its demography, its contemporary history, its political structure, taking account the cross-cultural issues, how to ?doing business in' with its institutions and citizens, economics, political economy, and the country's outlook (SWOT).

Methodology

- The ?Country Report: Doing Business In' must be useful for decision making.
- Increase your analytical interdisciplinary skills. Students will use all the tools they have acquired on previous courses.
- Develop the oral and written communication skills.
- Team work commitment doesn't mean cutting and pasting individual tasks.
- In-class open sessions. with active participation and engagement, to enrich class contents.
- Guest speakers.
- The professor's role is to provide guidance.
