COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM
The Leadership & Decision Making course focuses on understanding the multi-dimensional facets underlying decision making processes, how they affect key organizational outcomes and how knowledge thereof can maximize one's leadership effectiveness. By synergizing and applying knowledge about the processes underlying individual and group behavior, students will be provided with vital insights into the drivers of effective leadership.
The course focuses on some of the key issues that students, as future managers and leaders, will face, and the decisions and actions that are required to successfully manage individuals and teams in a variety of organizational contexts. To that end, particular emphasis will be placed on the factors underlying judgment and decision making processes, since these form a key component of leadership effectiveness and success.
To develop students' leadership skills, the course will provide students with a set of frameworks, skills and resources to help lead individuals, teams and organizations effectively.
Course Learning Objectives
1. To gain in-depth knowledge into the complex and multi-faceted nature of human decision making processes and their relevance for leadership effectiveness.
2. To obtain vital insights into how to maximise one's own leadership potential and effectiveness, and thereby also successfully manage one's own career.
3. To aquire resources, skills and techniques that help lead individuals, groups and organizations successfully, based on the aquired knowledge about how to effectively navigate key decision challenges.
Methodology
This course relies on a combination of simulations, in-class exercises, role plays, brief lectures, personal reflection exercises and independent work as well as teamwork. Students will actively participate in class.
