Course Learning Objectives

Explain and understand the topics and issues involved in managing people within multinational companies
Understand career issues and success in multinational companies.
Increase awareness on cross-cultural differences and learning ways of approaching them.

CONTENT

1. Working in a multinational company

In this domain we will cover topics such as career issues and success, job searching, and making difficult (HR) decisions.

2. Managing global talent in multinationals

In this area we will cover topics such as global talent attraction, global performance management, and compensating global mobility.

3. Managing local employees

Here we will cover two main topics: historical thinking on culture and HRM, and ways of approaching cross-cultural differences.

Methodology

The course will combine lectures on different HR topics, as well as case studies and problem-based activities. In addition, students will work in teams on short video cases that will reflect real global leadership challenges. Finally, there will also be group presentations focused on top quality studies.

Individual participation (20%)
Group presentations (30%)
