Course Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course students should:

- Know and be able to analyse the fundamental elements of today's social, legal, political, economic and cultural trends, challenges and proposals and alternatives
- Understand the impact organisations (across sectors) have on their environment.

Based on the above, students will develop a global/local vision of reality and thereby be able to develop a professional and civic commitment to society.

Methodology

The workload for this course will be equally divided between individual work, team work, and plenary work (including guest-speakers sessions and, potentially, on-site visits).

The central driver around which the course is designed is participation, meaning participating in class discussions, working with the group and contributing to the class through the individual work.

Our goal is threefold:
(1) to enable everyone to develop capabilities on analyses of today's social, legal, and political trends, challenges and proposals;
(2) to challenge participants to give the best of themselves and to develop analytical and empathic skills; and
(3) to look at issues from different angles and perspectives to, fundamentally, develop critical thinking on themes which are anything but uni-dimensional or simple.

The course will be taught by three instructors, each providing a different perspective on the topics at stake.

Assessment criteria

i. 20% classroom participation and engagement
ii. 30% Individual assignments
iii. 50% Group project (Capstone)
