COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM

Uncertainty and complexity requires an innovative apporach to problem solving. At ESADE's Fusion Point we provide an immersive experience where you will learn creative techniques which will help you to understand and solve complex problems.

The World Economic Forum listed both creativity and complex problem solving in the top five skills employees need in 2025. Organisations need people who have a growth mindset and are engaged in solving problems. In this course you will learn how to apply the Design Thinking mindset and methodology through a Design Sprint. Design Thinking is a an approach to innovation, that harnesses the creative practices of designers and provides a methodology to work with complex problems. You will experience first-hand the Design Thinking process, learn about its main characteristics and understand where it can provide most value.

Course Learning Objectives

The main objective of the course is to develop an experimental mindset and acquire a set of practical tools for creative problem solving that you can later apply to various domains, from improving internal processes to developing new products and services in organisations.

Methodology

We will use the ESADE Fusion Point methodology which is based on:

Experiental learning
Challenge-based
Teamwork

The learning experience combines capsule lectures, that provide the framework for the practical work. Followed by the practical application of the methodologies in class, with the suport of a coach. The methodological approach is designed to foster active learning and the implementation of the knowledge shared during lectures. You will be presented with a project callenge and will work on one project in a diverse team throughout the course.

Assessment criteria

Class participation is a fundamental component of the learning experience. You are expected to attend all classes presentially and particpate actively in all class-work and assignments.

Attendance: Attendance is mandatory and a full attendance record is expected. If a you are going to miss a session you should notify the lecturer in advance in the case of justified absence (absence is only justified in cases of force majeure).

Project work in teams: This course follows an experiential, hands-on, learning style. Therefore your contribution and active involvement in the team work and interaction with other team members is fundamental.
