COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM
This course will offer the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the core courses of the program to the design of a new venture that has social and/or environmental impact at its core, so it is ideal for those students who might be thinking of becoming entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs in the future.
Course Learning Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to:
- Identify opportunities to create positive social impact through business practices.
- Validate a business opportunity.
- Present a startup project to a group of investors.
- Reflect on the tensions and challenges that arise in organizations that combine business and impact logics.
Methodology
The course will combine lectures, guest speakers, in-class exercises, student presentations, and autonomous group work.
Assessment criteria
The assessment will be based on:
- 20% Participation in class: Students are expected to attend and actively participate, contributing to the learning of their teammates and to the good development of the course.
- 30% Individual assignments: Students will submit two or three individual assignments, which will assess their capacity to understand and reflect on the different topics covered in the course.
- 50% Final group project: Students will work in groups on a final project, which will consist on designing and validating an impact business model. Part of this grade will be based on the progress of the project and another part on the final submission.
