COURSE CONTRIBUTION TO PROGRAM

The course aims to reflect and to learn about basics of intercultural communication.
Whether our Law and Exchange students are engaging in business across borders or cultural regions, meeting other people through international travel, working in a diverse, global organization or studying abroad, a better understanding of intercultural communication will be essential. Skillfully learning to communicate beyond cultural limitations, will allow future business leaders to stand out in the global job market when facing the new challenges of global and multicultural teams in this new century.
The gained understanding and appreciation of cultural differences will help students adjust to the new cultural practices that come into their life - whether via the media or through interpersonal interactions.

Course Learning Objectives

1. To facilitate and promote communication and understanding between human beings from different cultures and countries all around the world, despite language diversity.
2. To participate in or contribute to building a better world in its cross-cultural complexity.

Long term objectives:

1. To develop tolerance, empathy and adaptibility in ambiguous communication situations.
2. To develop intercultural competence.

Short-term objectives:

1. To learn the basics of cross-cultural communication
2. To be aware of our own identity (culture and values)
3. To be aware of the way we communicate (family, friends, colleagues, etc.).
4. To reflect upon our own prejudices and their consequences.
5. To reflect upon different theories of internationally recognised experts in cross-cultural communication.
