Course Learning Objectives

Students will become familiar with the Common Law system and the fundamentals of legal English- specifically in a commercial/contractual context.

The course contributes to the program in that:
- Students will be able to impart their knowledge to both professional and lay clients without ambiguity and with clarity.
- Students will be able to contribute positively to society from a legal point of view.
- Students will be able to express themselves both orally and in writing to a high professional standard.

Assessment criteria

Final exam 60%

Class participation and presentation 40%
10% contract clause drafting
10% class participation (on a class to class basis)
20% presentation on common law case or speciality area
